  In  the  Name  of Allah, the  Most  Merciful  Compassionate.

THE SEVEN –TRADITION   PILGRIMAGE  OF  IMAM  ALI  IBN  MUSA

AL –REZA

I  testify  that there is no god  but Allah . He  is  alone, no partner  hath  He, and I testify that Muhammad is  His Servant  and His Messenger.  ( 1 )

O   Allah,  bestow   blessing  on  Muhammad  and  his  progeny ( 2 ).

O    Allah,  bestow  blessing   on  angels  nigh  to Thee.

    O   Allah,  bestow  blessing  on  Prophets  and  Apostles.

    O   Allah,  bestow  blessing  on the  Immaculate  Imams .

    O   Allah , bestow  blessing  on our  master  and  our  leader , the  Imam  of  guidance  and  the

most  trustworthy  handhold , the  proof  of  Thee  to the  people  of  the  world , about   whom  

said  the  Chief  of  mankind  and  the  Support  of creatures  – Muhammad  ( P.B.U.H ) :         

     “ A   flesh and  blood  of  mine (3)will soon  be  buried  in  the  earth  of  Khorasan (4). There never  visits  it  a   grief – stricken  person  but  Allah  removes  his  grief , nor  a  sinner  but  Allah  forgives  his  sin( 5).”

     O   Allah ,  I  beg   Thee   for  the  sake  of  his  accepted  intercession  and  his  exalted  degree 

to  remove  my  grief , and  to  forgive  my  sin , and  to  make  him  hear  my  word , and  to  deliver 

my  best  regards  to  him .

      Peace  be  upon  thee, O  the  Proof  of  Allah .

      Peace  be  upon  thee , O  the  Light  of  Allah.

      Peace  be  upon  thee , O  the  Repository  of  Allah‘ s  Knowledge .

      .Peace  be  upon  thee ,  O  the  Originating  source  of  Allah” s  supreme   Wisdom .

      Peace  be  upon  thee ,  O  the  Bearer  of  Allah ‘ s  Book .

      Peace  be  upon  thee , O  the  Guardian  of  Divine  Secret .

        Thou  art  One  about  whom  said the  killer of the  pagan  and the  eradicator of the  wicked (5),the

Commander  of  the  faithful  and  the  testamentary  executor  of  the  Messenger  of  Lord  of  the  worlds – Ali (may  Allah’s blessing  and  peace  be  upon   him) :

         “ A  man  of  my  posterity  namesake  with  me , having  a  father  namesake  with  the  son  of

Imran  -- Musa  will  soon  be  killed  oppressed   in  the  earth  of  Khorasan   by  poison .  Lo , verily

Allah  will  forgive  the  past  faults   and  those  to  fallow   of  one  who  pays   a  pilgrimage  to  him          

in  his  forlornness   even  though  they  are  as  many  as  stars  and(as  many  as )  the  drops   of  rains  and ( as  many  as ) the  leaves  of  trees  ” ( 6) *.

          O  lord ,  my  lord , behold  me   standing  before  thee .  And  my  faults  are  as  many  as  stars 

and  drops  of  rains  and  leaves  of  trees . There  is  no  means  for  me  to  efface  them  but  thy       

satisfaction.

           O  lord , I  reckon  not  in  the  book  of  my  deeds  any  single  deed  to  be  more  promising  to  me  than   performing  thy  pilgrimage . How ?  Verily ,   the Splitter of the   Knowledge  of  the   first  

 and  the  last ( may  Allah‘ s  blessing  be  upon  him) ( 7) said  about  it :

           “A  man  from  Musa ‘ s  children , namesake  with  the Commander  of  the  faithful  will  rise .And 

 then   he  will  be (killed  and )  buried  in  the  earth  of  Khorasan .  Verily, Allah  will  give  one  who  pays   a  pilgrimage  to  him  knowing  his  right  the  reward  of  one  who  spent  out  his  wealth  in  charity  and   fought  before   the Victory (8). “

            Now  I  have  come  towards  thee  to  pay  a  pilgrimage  to  thee , knowing  thy  right ,

understanding   that  thou  art  worthy  of  obedience ,(cognizing  that  thou  art )exiled  and  martyred  , hoping  about  what   (Imam)  Sadiq  ( may  blessing  and  peace  be  upon  him ) said :

             “  My  grandson  will  be  killed  in  the  earth  of  Khorasan  in  a  territory  called Toos. Surely  on  the   Day  of  Resurrection  , I  will  hold  one  who  visits  him  as  a  pilgrim  knowing  his  right  with  my  hand  and  take  him  to  the  Paradise , even  though  he  is  of  those   who   have  committed  capital  sins . “

                  Imam  ( Sadiq )  was  asked  :

                “ What  is  the  knowledge  of  his  right  ? “

                He  replied :

                “ Knowing  that   he  is  an  Imam  worthy  of  obedience ( who  has  been )  exiled   and  martyred .Surely , Allah  will  award  one  who  pays  a  pilgrimage  to  him  the  reward  of  seventy  martyrs  of  those  who  suffered   martyrdom  accompanying  the  Messenger  of  Allah ( peace  be  upon  him  and  his  progeny ) .“( 9)

O  Son  of  the  Messenger  of  Allah .

O  Son  of  the  Commander  of  the  faithful .

I  seek  forgiveness  for  my  sins  and  my  parents’  sins  and  sins  of  believing  men   and  believing   women  by  paying a visit  to  thee, begging  thee  the accomplishment  of  what  thou   have  promised  to  do  in  the Three  Abodes :  At  the  time  of  the  Dispersal  of  the  Books  ( 10),  while  passing  on   (the  bridge  of ) the  Pathway ( 11) , and  before  the  Balance ( 12).

                 And  thou  said  and  thy  saying  is  surely  a  truth :

                 “  verily , the  worst  one  of  those  that  Allah  has  created  in  my  time  will kill me  with 

poison , then  he  will  bury  me  in  an  abode  of  affliction  in a remote  land. Lo  verily , one  who  pays 

a  pilgrimage  to  me  in  my  forlornness  shall  gain  the  reward  of  a  hundred  thousand  martyrs   and      

a   hundred  thousand  veracious  ones  and  a  hundred  thousand  pilgrims  performing  Major  and  Minor  Hajj  rituals (13)  and  a  hundred  thousand   warriors  of  Faith --the  reward  which Allah-The  Almighty, The Glorious   hath  decreed  (for  Himself ) to grant . And  he  shall  be  gathered  together  in  our  company , and  shall be  situated  as  our  comrade  in  higher  ranks  of  the  Paradise (14).” 

                 All  praise  is due  to  Allah  Who  prospered  me  to  pay  a  visit to thee  in a  sacred  area  about   which  thou ( thyself) said :

                 “ It  is , I  swear  by  Allah  ,  a  garden  of  the  gardens  of  the  Paradise . One  who  pays  a  pilgrimage  to  me  in  this  region is  surely  like  one  who  paid  a  pilgrimage  to  the  Messenger  of  Allah ( may  Allah’s  blessing  be  upon  him  and  his  progeny ) , and  Allah  hath prescribed for  him  the   recompense  of  performing   a  thousand  honored   major  pilgrimage  and  a  thousand   accepted 

 minor pilgrimages  ( of  Allah’s  Sacred  House ).  And  I  and  my  ancestors  shall  intercede  on  behalf  of him  on  the  Day  of  Resurrection (15).”

               Hence  I  beg  thee  by  the  right  of  thy  Pure  Ancestors , and  by  the  right  of  thy  Distinguished  Progeny  to  be  the  intercessor  on  behalf  of  me (16)

               O ,  my  master  , thou  art  one  to  whom  none   but  the  elite  of  Shi,a  (17) performs  pilgrimage  . So  I  beg   Allah by  thy  right  and  by  the  right  of  thy  disciples   to  permit  thee   to  intercede  on  behalf  of  me . And  I  ask  Allah  to  resurrect  me  together   with  thy  disciples  in  an  abode  of  blessing .  Together  with  you -- the  Folk  of the  House . With  you  , with  you  ,not  with  others  than  you . I  express   my  disgust  at  your  enemies   in  the  presence  of  Allah ,and  I seek  proximity  to  Allah  by  you.

                I  believe  in  your  Second  Coming .

                I  confirm  your  Returning.

                I  await  your  Reign .

                I  expect  your  Sovereignty (18)

                I  know  the  magnificence  of  your  Dignity .

                I  understand  the  misguidance  of  people  who  oppose  you .

                I  am  a  friend  of  yours  and  your  friends ‘, and  an  enemy  to  your  foes.

                I  appeal  protection  from  you,  and  I take  refuge  in  your  graves . 

               O  Allah , bestow  blessing  upon  Muhammad  the Prophet, and  upon  the Designated  Executor (--Ali ) and  upon  the  Batul (--Fatimah ) (19)  and  the  Two  Offsprings (--Hassan  and  Hossein) and Sajjad  and  Baqir  and  Sadiq  and  Kazim  and   Reza  and Taqi  and  Naqi  and  Aaskari  and  Mahdi  -- Lord  of  the  Time  ( may  blessing  be     upon  them  all) .(20) 

                O   Allah , these are  our  Imams  and  our  leaders  and  our  guides  and  our  observers .

                O   Allah ,( please ) prosper  us  in  their  obedience , and  provide  us  with  their  intercession  and  gather  us  together  with  their  party  on  the  Day  of  Resurrection  ,and  let  us  be  of  their  best  intimates  . By  Thy  Mercy  ,O  The  Most  Merciful  of  all  the  merciful.
